Intro: I
tried a few maps that I disliked before I
started playing this one. Ugh, some of the
stuff people release.... it's damned scary.
:p Thankfully there's guys like Exl around
to help save the day...

Comments: First
of all this is a set of 5 maps and what a
fine set... I played on UV using GZDoom and
the ammo was tight in spots and abundant
in other places. In one place I was so low
on ammo that I had to run away from several
revenants that teleported in.... that was
pretty crazy. The hellish maps look great
once you get off the base at the start of
the set. There is a lot of atmosphere here
and Exl did a fine job of making a very hellish
place and the additional ambient soundtrack
adds a lot to the atmosphere (try wearing
headphone with this one).. I especially enjoyed
everything up to the point where you end
up in a massive outside area with enough
enemies to shingle hell and.... it was tough
but I survived, figured out the puzzle and
made it out of there alive. The final map
ended up being another puzzle and I eventually
figured out what to do and finished with
17 health.. In my opinion this wad is worth
playing just to experience the first couple
maps and the rest is good too.... there's
some really cool looking areas to explore
and Exl isn't cheap with the secret areas,
many of which I didn't even find (I missed
10). So yeah, this one is worthy of level
of the day, so go play the damned thing and
enjoy yourself.... took me 101 minutes to
complete.

Sayeth: A
short trip through hell, set on by a classic
Doom story. Originally intended as just
a Boom compatible level, I got a little
carried away with it, especially the ending
credits\scenes. It carries in at over 10
Mb because of the ambient sounds used...
so turn off any music you have playing,
turn up the volume on other music in ZDoom
and enjoy!
